Chore Wheel
Spin to see who does what.
Wheel with 8 entries: Dishes, Vacuum, Laundry, Take out the trash, Clean the bathroom, Wipe the counters, Water the plants, Tidy the living room
About the Chore Wheel
Few things cause more quiet resentment in a shared home than uneven chores. A chore wheel replaces negotiation with chance. Each spin picks a task from the list, and because nobody chose it, nobody can feel singled out. It starts with eight common jobs, from the dishes to watering the plants.
To hand out the whole week, let each person spin in turn with Remove winner switched on, so every task is taken exactly once. Add the jobs your home really has, and write the unpopular ones twice if you want them to come up more often. Send the link to the household so everyone sees the same list.
Ways to use it
- Assign weekly tasks between flatmates without arguments
- Let children spin for their daily job
- Share out classroom helper roles
- Pick the one job nobody wants for a weekend blitz
Chore Wheel: questions and answers
How do I make sure every chore is assigned once?
Tick Remove winner before the next spin. A chore leaves the wheel after it has been drawn, so the next spin picks from what is left.
Can I add my own chores?
Yes. Edit the list in the Names tab and write one chore per line.
Is it fair if there are more chores than people?
Everyone can keep spinning until the list is empty, so some people take more than one chore. Agree on that rule before you start.
How do we all use the same list?
Create a link in the Share tab and send it to the household. Everyone opens the same wheel.
