Random Letter Wheel (A–Z)
Spin to pick a letter of the alphabet.
Wheel with 26 entries: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, and more
About the Random Letter Wheel
The letter wheel holds all 26 letters of the alphabet. It is built for word games such as Scattergories, quick rounds of Pictionary, and any activity that starts with a random letter: name a country, an animal and a food that all begin with it.
Teachers use a letter wheel for spelling and phonics practice. If some letters are too hard for your group, delete them from the list. Switch on removal of the winner and the same letter will not come up twice in one game, so you can work through the alphabet in a random order.
Ways to use it
- Pick the starting letter for Scattergories or a category game
- Practise phonics by naming words that begin with the letter
- Set a writing prompt: a story where every sentence starts with the letter
- Choose a random initial for a baby name or a team name shortlist
Random Letter Wheel: questions and answers
Does the wheel include every letter?
Yes, all 26 letters from A to Z, each with an equal slice.
How can I skip hard letters like Q or X?
Open the Names tab and delete those lines. The remaining letters resize to fill the wheel.
Can I use it for Scattergories?
Yes. Spin once per round and turn on Remove winner so every round uses a new letter.
Can I use lowercase letters or a smaller set?
Yes. The list is just text, so type any letters you like, in any case.
